  What VIN Number ?

A cars vehicle identification number (VIN) is the automotive equivalent of human “DNA”.

It sets the vehicle apart from the millions of other vehicles out there. Since 1981, it has been consisted of 17 digit characters. It displays a vehicles uniqueness and heritage and provides a form of “factory to scrap yard” identification. It can be used to track recalls, registrations, guarantee, warranty claims, thefts and insurance coverage.

Each character or digit has a particular purpose. VIN number does not include the letters I (i), O (o), or Q (q) (to avoid confusion with numerals 1 and 0).

A Vehicle Identification Number, or VIN, is stamped onto a small metal plate and usually fixed to the driver’s side of the dashboard so that it is visible through the windshield. It is used by police in case of theft, insurance companies in case of accident, manufacturing companies for recall, mechanics or anyone that has a need to identify the vehicle or its attributes.

However vehicle manufacturers can stamp the VIN anywhere they want; frequently the engine block will have the VIN number stamped on it.

How to understand vehicles VIN ?

A VIN is basically a serial number for your any car or truck . It is 17 characters long and is a mix of numbers and alphabets. It is divided into four parts :

1. World Manufacturer’s Identification (WMI - three numbers or letters)

2. Vehicle Description Section (VDS - five numbers or letters)

3. The VIN Accuracy Check Digit (one number)

4. Vehicle Identification Section (VIS - eight numbers or letters)

The first character identifies the manufactures country.

The second number or letter identifies the car manufacturer.

The third character is for vehicle type or manufacturing department,

While the fourth through eighth characters identify attributes of the vehicle, like body style (like sedan, hatchback, SUV) and engine type.

The ninth digit uniquely identifies the car, ensuring that no two cars within a 30 years period will have the same VIN number.

The 10th character is the model year,

The 11th is the assembly plant.

The 12th to 17th identifies the sequence of the vehicle rolling off the production line; the last four characters are always numeric.

Use of VINs while buying a used car :

There are many things a seller may not disclose to you, such as a salvage title, flood damage or an odometer rollback. Any of these and other issues can affects the safety, performance and even value of a second hand vehicle.

To make it more difficult for you to learn a vehicle’s history, crooked or cheater sellers may list the wrong VIN in an online vehicle advertisement or may not be willing to provide the VIN at all. A buyer should ask seller to provide VIN number. So in case seller hide or refuse to disclose the VIN, that could be a sign of that seller do not want you to learn vehicles history.

Buyer can get the VIN from seller and can get the car history from several online website or some agencies reports like CARFAX report. If VIN do not match, you may avoid the deal from seller.

The Human Edge in Automotive Marketing

By Stan Parker

The boom for an Automotive Industry has always been drastically increasing. With the newest and advanced marketing techniques, it creates thoughts about the methods and resources to attract clients. So, one of the great techniques is advertisement. It gets you remarkable popularity in the market when you put money into this field. At the same time, in order to market your business effectively and earn good profits, you need to be guided thoroughly for making resistant or strong dealerships.

At a time when people are trying to make ends meet because of recession, selling cars appears to be such a gargantuan task. And maybe it is. Instead of spending their money on a new automobile, average income folks would rather save for their more immediate needs and avoid spending unnecessarily. Although cars are considered a commodity, most people who can afford them already have their own and would probably veer away from buying new ones during these economically trying times. This puts car dealers in a rather uncompromising situation. The business of car dealership isn’t as attractive as it used to be. Worse, car dealers could end up losing more if they closed shop than if they carried on and hoped for things to get better.

This is, indeed, a problem unless dealers start reversing their views on the situation. Each market always has a time to slow down but thats not the reason to give up. Considering this is the thing to do now on the events that may be taken in so they can handle the crisis rather than waiting for it to explode. When all automotive marketing strategies be unsuccessful, dont forget that it is significant for people in the car industry only human relationships hold up. Now, it is up to the automotive company, or any other business for that matter, to build on this human edge in order to survive. It is a fact that the automotive industry has a market even if theres crisis after all.

But what is the human edge? It is the miraculous touch that human dealings can offer any business that appears to be heading for disaster. It isn’t magical. It can actually be very technical depending on how you move towards it. The human edge is the ingredient of all booming crisis marketing operations whose major requirement is for entrepreneurs to develop a skill in creating good relationship with possible clients without knowing in the end. You gain more connections and take a break to put up on probable friendships and allow your network to grow and grow until each one comes naturally to you. This may be essential for all sales representatives who work with a few markets. It can be lifesaving to any type of enterprise that needs a salvaging while it is basic.

This is when you no longer need to approach people and tell them what you want them to do. If you perfect this skill of creating in them a need to buy that thing you’re selling, they’re going to buy it and they will buy it from you. Provided that they find someone they’re comfortable with such an option, these times are difficult but a few people are willing to stretch out their budgets for a little luxury. Dont forget that clients just need the exact person to make them want to purchase. Often, these successful salesmen are friends who just happened to be salesmen and not the other way around.

Making Car Buying Fun Again

By Jack Benz

When starting the car buying journey, you will most likely have set criteria in your mind. Make, model, year, mileage, and what your price range is should all be on this list. After checking out the places one goes to buy a car, a few candidates will surface. The present owner of that car will also have their own criteria in place. This will probably be the price they want to get out of it. After looking at the vehicle, and deciding that you would like to buy the car, try these couple of tips.

First, make known all discrepancies you have found. The current owner will not be too quick to point these things out. By doing this, an amount will probably be taken off the asking price. Don’t be too eager. Unless people are lined up to buy the car, don’t make an offer at the start. Go home, sleep on it, think about it, and most importantly, talk it over with your significant other. If everything is a go, set up another appointment to see the car.

Unless you are extremely wealthy, never offer full asking price. The price listed will usually have some leeway built in. Ask if there is any “wiggle” room in the deal. Offer below what you have allotted to buy the car. The seller will most likely counter your offer and go below their asking price. If they don’t, they don’t want you to buy their car. Continue in this fashion until both parties are satisfied. When the deal is struck, congratulate yourself for your new found car buying knowledge.

Buying a car is one of the more fun things in life to do. With proper negotiating skills, it doesn’t have to be filled with fear. After becoming an expert, all your friends and family will want you on their side.
